Christmas Card Challenges and Learning to Enjoy the Moment

Last year the challenge of putting together a decent looking Christmas card was getting 3 little kids under the age of 7 to sit still and look at the camera not to mention one very uninterested 17 year old. This year the challenge was not having my entire little family together to pose for a picture together. Puts things into perspective I suppose. One minute you are irritated or upset about something that seems important and the next minute you realize it was so trivial you wasted precious moments worrying about it at all.

This prompted me to embrace each of my children's uniqueness and capture a photo of them that would show their personalities and not worry about getting "The perfect family photograph". Is there such a thing? Now when I see most posed and perfect family photos all I see are the smiles that I forced on my kids and the stress and aggravation hiding behind my own.

My oldest son is across the state going to college and very busy with his social life... I mean studies so by means of no other choice and my new found perspective on embracing the moment, I found a photo of him in his high school graduation cap and gown that was snapped with his friends on graduation day. I love it.
