4th of July in Show Low

Jim and the boys drove up to Show Low for the 4th of July weekend to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Wilson. They had so much fun running around in the cooler weather, feeding the horses and roasting marshmellows. On Saturday morning they went to a parade which the boys just love. In the evening they drove to nearby Taylor, Az. and had a BBQ picnic and watched the annual rodeo and fireworks! What fun!

Nolan, I just love you to bits. I don't care how big you get, you are still mommy's "baby cakes" Sometimes I will ask "Nolan, are you mommy's baby?" And you say in the sweetest little voice, "Yah, I mommy's baby." Last night you were jumping around on the couch after your tub and Daddy playfully swatted your bum. You said "Hey! Only mommy can do that, that's mommy's baby's bum! " O.K. so I love your chubby baby bum!
I constantly have to remind myself that you are only 2 years old. Not only because you are bigger than most 3 & 4 year olds (including your 4 year old brother who you weigh more than already!) but because you are so smart and witty. Your vocabulary amazes me and you surprise us with your big boy comments daily! You keep up with Jack and are starting to let him know that you will not be pushed around just because you are the "little" brother! You sweet little personality just fills my heart with love for you. Even when you are mad or trying to be loud it's hard not to smile because your little voice is just so sweet. Lately, you have been saying out of the blue several times a day, "Mommy, I luz you." and then tell Daddy, Jack, Britton and Grandma. I just love it! I had Daddy try to get it on video because your little voice is just the cutest thing. You and Jack have been telling each other you love them and that you are best friends and giving each other hugs lately. I sure hope that lasts forever!
I just can't get enough of you Nolan! I love you baby cakes!

splash pad

The boys just love going to the splash pad! Luckily there are several close to our house that are really cool! It's so hot here in the summer that this is a common place we take the kids to play.

I love this photo! Daddy is such a good photographer!

The boys decided they wanted to practice for baby sisters arrival with their stuffed monkeys. Now I know for all of you with girls this may be commonplace, however, we are not used to this kind of care taking and nurturing around here with 3 boys. In fact, it is much more common that someone be banging a truck into the wall or someone elses head. I'm not sure were this came from but it was pretty cute as both Jack and Nolan got pretty involved in the care taking of their babies.

After finding some sleepers to dress them in and wrapping them up "snug and comfy" in blankies, Jack decided they were hungry and needed a bottle. Afterwards they even burped them very efficiently, and thoroughly I might add, sound effects and all.

Pink Pink and more Pink!

Who knew decorating and shopping for a little girl could be so much fun? In my defense, I have been waiting a very long time for a little girl so you can hardly blame me for going a bit overboard on the pink! The hardest part was making a decision on how to decorate the nursery. I had about a million different visions in mind! I always wanted to do an English garden themed nursery but decided to go more traditional once I found these cute birds and butterflies online. If I must say so myself, I have actually used quite a bit of self restraint as far as shopping goes. I've only bought a handful of clothes, which is not as easy as it sounds since I've been wanting to buy little girl things forever! Every time I go shopping for the boys I have to all but tear myself away from the girl section. There just isn't much you can do with boy clothes, you have trucks and sports and that's about it! Also, I didn't buy one single piece of furniture! I refinished an old dresser and am using it as a diaper changing station. I've had an antique armoire sitting in my garage that's been in our family for generations that I finally get to use. Thank heaven for sisters and sister-in-law's and wonderful hand-me-downs, I've gotten a crib and tons of clothes that way.

The next challenge was picking out a name!!! I've always liked Mona but really liked a few others too such as; Amelia, Natalie, Mina and Maryne. I was surprised that Jim liked Mona the best too so we are going with that. Also, Ramona is my grandma Lloyd's name and she is the sweetest, wittiest person in the world and I just love her to bits so Mona it is!

Mona Claire Wilson. Yes, thank you very much, I painted these letters all by myself. ;-)

That's about the extent of my artistic abilities.
